The oscillation damper (1) has a piston (7) displaced axially within a cylinder (3) filled with an oscillation damping medium, the damping force controlled via an adjustable damping valve controlling a fluid flow path (27,29) between the working chambers (9,11) on opposite sides of the piston. The base (6) of the cylinder supports a displacement rod (8) coaxial to the piston rod (5) with which is defines a hollow space (10), coupled to the atmosphere via a valve opening (105).
