Method for decontamination or detoxification of environmental poisons involves addition of the product to be treated in predetermined quantities to a solid of fluid matrix of friction or tribomaterial and then high speed kinetic fragmentation of the material into its smallest constituents using impact and shear forces applied using suitable particulate and granular material.
