The elastomer mounting (1), to suppress vibrations in a vehicle, has a metal inner section (2) and a metal outer section (3) with rubber springs (4) between them. Chambers (6) between the rubber springs are filled with a damping fluid, interlinked through throttle channels (7). The inner section has axial channels (8) through it which allow a radial pretension at the rubber springs by a plastic distortion through their expansion and/or an adjustment of the damping characteristics of the elastomer mounting.
