A gelatin based adhesive (I) that is solid at normal temperature contains a water soluble polymer (II) that embues the adhesive with fiber-drawing properties. Independent claims are included for: (1) a product comprising at least 2 layers having a fleece-like structure, preferably layers of paper, that are bonded together with the adhesive (I); (2) a process for the adhesion of intermediate layers by application of the adhesive (I) in the form of fibers in the liquid phase onto at least one of the layers and drawing the layers together prior to the loss of the adhesive strength and; (3) an application device (IV) for the adhesive (I) comprising an adhesive melting unit, an adhesive feed unit, preferably heated and an application head having at least two outlets, preferably holes or nozzles.
