The device for the fitting of a door to the body of a motor vehicle by an upper and lower hinge has a door installation template (1) which by means of the upper (2) and lower (3) hinges is detachably installed on the body of the vehicle. The door installation template corresponds to the door to be fitted with regard to its contour, dimensions and weight. To accommodate a positioning bolt at least one elongated hole is located on the door side members of the upper and lower hinges. An independent claim is included for a procedure for the fitting of a door to the body of a motor vehicle by means of an upper and a lower hinge, and especially for fitting to a A-pillar and/or B-pillar.
