The frame (1) has at least 2 transverse carriers (2,3,5,6) coupled together via a longitudinal carrier (4), providing a mounting plane (9) for the main mass (M) supported within the frame via 3 bearing points (A,B,C), the transverse carriers provided with mountings (D1,D2,D3,D4) for attaching the frame to an automobile chassis. Two of the bearing points are provided by the main transverse carrier and offset from the line between the mounting points for the latter in both the vertical and longitudinal directions, the third bearing point lying between the 2 longitudinal carrier elements (7,8) of the longitudinal carrier.
