The method involves producing coaxial bores (17,18) in a component with a fixed connection to the manual shift lever (1) and in a wall section (16) of the guide housing (4) when a stop part comes into contact with a defined inner wall section of the guide housing and inserting a marker bolt in the bores to secure the position of the manual shift lever. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a guide housing for mounting a manual shift lever for use with the inventive method.
