Method for optomechanical distance measurement between a null point (N) and a reference point (P), where the reference point lies in the same place as the null point, the optical axis of an optical system (3) and the axis of displacement of a guide element (4) on which the optics are mounted. The method involves imaging of the reference object on an image plane (6) using two different positions (S, S') of the optical system. From the position of the two image points and the corresponding positions of the optical system the distance between reference and null points is determined. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for optomechanical measurement of the distance between a null point and a reference point.
