Superintegration of a heat exchanger (28) and a typical three-way catalyst for controlling the temperature of air supplied to the internal combustion engine in an engine system (26) with homogeneous mixture compression ignition is disclosed. The super-integrated heat exchanger (28) comprises a typical catalyst reaction chamber (38), a coolant line spiral (40) and a heat exchanger unit (42). A portion of the fresh air that is introduced into an air path in the super-integrated heat exchanger (38) is preheated by a coolant line spiral (40) and hot surface of the three-way catalyst and then heated in a heat exchanger unit (42) by exhaust gases to a final temperature , The heated air is returned to an inlet temperature control valve (24) and is mixed with another portion of fresh air after a Y-branch (22) following a throttle valve. The inlet temperature control valve (24) controlled by a stepper motor (100) can adjust the temperature of the mixture of fresh air and heated air quickly and precisely by means of a regulator. The temperature-controlled air is supplied to an engine for homogeneous mixture compression ignition (HCCI) engine auto-ignition and combustion phase control.
