The motor vehicle has an internal combustion engine (1), a starter (6), a clutch (3) whose drive parts can be connected to the internal combustion engine and whose driven parts can be connected directly to a gearbox (9) input shaft (4) or to the starter. A direct start can be carried out with the internal combustion engine so that when driving the vehicle with the starter the internal combustion engine can be started without interrupting the traction force. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of driving a motor vehicle.
