Capacitor battery, especially for a motor vehicle, comprises a multiplicity of capacitors connected together in a circuit, whereby at least one discharge resistance is provided. The capacitor circuit (1) has at least one protection device (2) assigned to it with which the discharge resistance can be connected dependent on external operating conditions. An independent claim is made for a method for controlling a motor vehicle capacitor battery.
