Process for the chemical-thermal treatment of steel (alloy) products comprises cleaning the products using cathode sputtering, heating to saturation temperature in a glow discharge plasma, and holding at the saturation temperature in the operating medium. The impulse duration of a voltage impulse applied to the products to be treated is discontinuously increased during cathode sputtering and successively in two stages. During the first stage, up to the temperature of the products to be treated of 45-50 degrees C, the impulse duration is 18-20 microseconds; and during the second stage, up to the temperature of the products to be treated of 140-150 degrees C the impulse duration is 38-40 microseconds. The impulse duration during heating of the products in the glow discharge plasma up to the saturation temperature is 75-80 microseconds, and is held at this level during saturation.
