The system for fitting labels (13) over the hooks (15) of clothes hangers (7) hanging from a conveyor rail comprises a labeling station (9) where the hanger hangs from the end (5) of a rail before moving on to a new rail. A label is fed from a magazine and the aperture in its top threaded over the free end (25) of the hook and down over its shoulder (29). A sloping guide block (17) which rests against the back of the hook ensures that the label is fitted securely.
