Sensor wheel especially for crankshaft of an internal combustion engine has regular distribution of gear teeth (10) with gaps (12) and the profile (13) of the teeth is evolute (30) in predefined regions (18, 20) of the forward tooth flank. Reference gaps interrupt the teeth around its circumference, and a magnetic sensor for detecting the refernece gaps is arranged spaced-apart from the toothed circumference. An independent claim is made for a method for producing a crankshaft gear wheel using a gear shaper.
