Method for determining the intensity of electromagnetic radiation from a number of locations received in an area (G) in which radiation in a range with minimum and maximum intensities is measured and recorded with a detector with a number of measurements made over increasing measurement periods. Only measurement values below the maximum intensity are retained and an intensity value for a particular location is determined by normalizing measurements with a quotient factor equal to the actual measurement period for a measurement divided by the longest measurement period. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for determining the intensities of radiation from locations received in an area.
