Communications channels (K1, K2) are formed between main user (M) and secondary users (S1, S2). At least two channels (K1, K2) are so operated in a first operational mode with reduced activity, that data exchange is effected periodically during a time slot connected to a second time slot, during which there is no data exchange. A first communications channel (K2) operable in the first mode is synchronized with a second communications channel (K1) operable in the first mode. An independent claim is included for the corresponding data transmission system.
