Intramolecular transesterification of starting materials containing cyclic polyhydroxy compounds (e.g. phenylethanoids) is carried out at a pressure of 1-20 x 103 Pascals and a temperature of 40-250[deg]C, using an autoclave, sealed glass tube, distillation apparatus, extractor (e.g. Soxhlet) or perforator as apparatus.
