A device for detecting an electric current including a wiring carrier, e.g. (1), a precision resistance (3) on the upper or lower side, in the form of a resistance film, e.g. (4), integrated into the metallic regions (22) of the wiring carrier, and at least two contact sites. An independent claim is included for a method for production of the device involving soldered contacts, and a thin, less than 5 micron thick Ni, NiAu, or Sn coating, applied by chemical or electrochemical deposition, or sputtering.
