Device for temporary or permanent containment of flood water and for providing building protection comprises a body having a flexible casing provided with inlet and outlet valves and which can be filled with a liquid on site. The body is a tube (1) designed for the local conditions. Preferred Features: The tube can be rolled up when empty and is provided with handles arranged a distance apart. The tube has a circular, semicircular or any other cross-section appropriate for the local conditions. A flexible mat (7) made e.g. of foamed material or a sand base improves the sealing between the tube and the bed (4).
