The method for iterative determination of the distance between a receiving station (MS) and a transmitting station (SAT1-SAT4), whereby information (I) relating to signals (S1-S4) received from the satellites that contain codes (C1-C4) relating to the transmitting stations is received by a calculation unit (BE). The number of whole codes received in a transmission time (t1-t4) is calculated and during an iteration step the number of whole multiples of the code is calculated. In subsequent iteration steps the number can be used without renewed calculation. An independent claim is made for a calculation unit for the iterative determination of the distance between a receiving station and a transmitting station.
