The door lock (10) has a pawl mechanism on the vehicle door and a locking bar (13) on the vehicle body. The pawl mechanism (11) is operated by a lift arm and an opening lever is operated by actuating a door opening mechanism on the door. A locking lever can be moved between an unlocked and locked position by operating a door locking and unlock element on the door to actuate an opening element which has a connecting element which has an operating input section which receives operating force from the opening lever, and an active section which can engage with the lift arm, and an elastic element which connects the connecting element to the locking lever. When the opening element is in the unlocking position it engages by operating the opening lever with the lever arm which can then be actuated. When the opening element is in the locked position it idles with the lift arm and can then engage in the other direction with the lift arm which cannot then be actuated if the opening element is switched from the locked position to the unlocked position.
