The letter box has a two-part flap which controls insertion of letters. The mail box is provided with a housing, which has an opening and a reservoir arranged below the opening, and a flap, which moves over a horizontal tilt axis between the opening and the reservoir. The flap extends across the opening, closing it in the first position and reciprocally opening access to the reservoir. In the second position the flap provides access to the opening and reciprocally closes access to the reservoir.
