The brake actuator has a housing (2) within which is contained a rolling screw drive (50) with a spindle nut (24), the rotational movement of which is converted into translational movement of a spindle rod (4) via rolling bodies (52). The rolling bodies are fixed on the spindle rod in the axial direction, and the meshing thread of the spindle nut is longer than the engagement length of the rolling bodies by the travel of the spindle rod. The spindle rod is radially mounted in the spindle nut with an axial clearance in relation to the meshing section of the spindle nut.
