Touch panel has an integrated driver circuit, upper and lower substrates, first and second transparent electrodes on opposing surfaces of the upper and lower substrates, a multiplicity of metal electrodes around the circumference of the transparent electrodes and a flexible printed cable with a multiplicity of signal conductors, that stretch from the top and bottom substrates to the rear side of the display device for application of signal voltages to the metal electrodes, whereby the flexible printed cable is bent around a corner of the upper and lower substrates to the rear side of the display unit. An Independent claim is made for a method of manufacture of a touch screen or panel.
