An error correction method for correcting distortion of a transmission characteristic involves initially generating an original complex IQ-signal (I- ideal, Q-ideal), and then carrying out an error correction followed by processing the corrected complex IQ-signal, to obtain a processed real signal, the envelope curve of which is then ascertained. The real signal curve is synchronized with the original complex IQ-signal and to derive envelope curve of the original complex IQ-signal for comparing with the real signal curve at two successive time points to obtain a processed complex IQ-signal from the real signal envelope curve. Independent claims are given for (a) an error correction device for eliminating distortion of a transmission characteristic and for (b) an OFDM system with direct conversion architecture.
