The box (1) for the packing of a product has a reinforcing element connected to each sidewall (3,4). The reinforcing elements are formed by sections (20) of the bottom wall (2) and extend in the vertical direction of the box so that a fold with a locating face is formed and extends parallel to the bottom wall and top wall (7). The reinforcing elements may have several layers lying one on top of the other and formed by the bottom wall section, and located on the upper edge of the sidewall. An independent claim is included for a flat cardboard blank for the construction of the aforesaid packing box.
