A method for transporting fuel pellets without creating a conical heap has the pellets drawn through a suction duct (1) which passes through a housing (5) under a pyramid shaped roof (6). A positive pressure return flow duct (2) from the pump feeds into the side of the housing with most of the flow directed under the roof via an aperture (10) in the top of the housing. A secondary flow is directed out of a smaller aperture into a parallel flow to the pellets, to strike a thrust plate (12) and disperse laterally. The air flows disperse the pellets evenly into the holding container, or hopper.
