The locking system for a 1100 liter waste bin (2) has a connecting yoke (1) conforming to the shape of the bin and which connects the lid (2.2) to the bin without a threaded action. A drive system (1.1) is integrated in the locking yoke for the positioning of a slide with a lock for the fixing of these components. The slide is moved vertically by means of gearwheels and toothed racks. The slide in the locked state is located behind the edge (2.3) of the waste bin. The slide may be moved vertically upwards and downwards by manual manipulation.
