The safety cabinet has a folding door (18) with an inner door panel (22) on the side of the closing edge which has a lesser width extension than an outer door panel (20) which is on the wall side. In the widest open position of the folding door the inner and outer door panels are parallel to each other and make a right angle with a plane which is spanned by a cabinet opening which can be closed by the folding door. The closing device (30, 32) and damping device (34, 36) are separate elements and can be arranged outside of the cabinet interior.
