The drive mechanism for electric bicycles comprises a motor (10) with a hollow output shaft (11) with a drive pinion (11a) at the front acting as the sun wheel of the planetary gear (21) of the power transmission unit (20). An intermediate gearwheel on the front end of the planetary gear is rotatably connected in the middle to the clutch of the transmission unit. A number of toothed discs (23a) are fitted on the outer wall of the clutch housing (23). The center shaft (31) of a crank mechanism is located inside the hollow output shaft of the motor without contact.
