The furniture fitment has identical support rails (2) which can be inserted concealed in a groove (3) in both end sides of the shelf base (1) where they are accessible from the back of the shelf. The support rails have a guide slot open to the back to take bearing pins (8). The slot extends parallel to the plane of the shelf and has pocket like recesses in the upper edge for locking the pins in the final assembled position of the shelf. The edges of the guide slot and recesses have rounded transition regions.
