The glasses (1) have a distance measuring device (4,5) for measuring the distance to an object (9) viewed by the user through the glasses. A focussing device is provided for motor-driven focussing of a lens system (2a,2b). The distance measuring device measures the distance to the object using the radiation emitted from the object, e.g. using parallax displacement, with the images detected by a light sensor (4) which is at least a line sensor.
