The wall construction unit has a concrete shell (3) at a gap from a second shell (4). One shell has a number of bonding structures (7,8), leaving a gap between their ends and the other shell, to bond with the concrete (16) poured between the shells. The bonding structures are secured by reinforcements (6) incorporated into the cast concrete shell. The bonding structures form grids, or grid carriers. The second shell is of a hard foam insulation material. Plastics tie rods (9,10) hold the shells together.
