Clamping wedge device comprises a wedge (36), a counter-wedge (38), a poppet pin (48), an adjusting nut (68), and a locking device for preventing relative movement of the wedge and the counter-wedge. The locking device is formed as two diametrically opposite-lying flattened surfaces (114) of the outer surface of the shaft (110) of the poppet pin within its middle section (112) between the pin head (50) and the external threaded end (62, 64) and as inner surface sections of through bores (44, 46) of the wedge and counter-wedge lying flat on the flattened surfaces. The poppet pin has in the region between the pin head and the flattened surfaces a cross-section which is greater than that in the middle section, and in the region between the flattened surfaces and the external threaded end a cross-section that is the same or smaller than the cross-section in the middle section.
