Spaced apart coils (27-29) are arranged around a hub (1), and voltages are induced in their windings by a magnet (4) which rotates with the hub. The axes of the coils are arranged in the rotation direction of the hub, and their cores (24-26) bridge respective gaps (19,21,23) between sequentially arranged ring segments (12-17).
