A ski e.g. Alpine snow ski, Nordic snow ski or snowboard, has an elongated flat structure with a tip at the leading edge. The forward end lower surface has one or more short shallow steel keels (10, 20, 30, 41). The shallow keels are attached to the ski or board by e.g. a bayonet fitting or eyes. The keels are 5-25 cm long and 0.3-1 mm wide.
