The detector has only one sensor and detects approach, stop, approach, departure and non-stopping of the train. The device preferably includes a modem, a data processor, one or more ultrasound sensors, a six-wire connecting cable and a weather-resistant housing. The device can be connected to all known passenger information systems of Deutsche Bahn AG.
