The device comprises a mobile telephone which uses an SMS message or a call to a supervisor to inform them of malfunction reports transmitted from the defibrillator via a cable, optical or acoustic connection. A signal may be transmitted to the supervisor indicative of the cell information from the mobile telephone operator, to allow the location of the apparatus to be determined.
