A circular sealing element on the edge (3) side pointing in the direction of the face opening (4) enables a sealing abutment against the mask. The sealing element is fastened on the edge permanently, e.g. by sewing, weaving etc, or it forms a constituent part of the edge. A loop (8) or similar device above the face opening provides for an adjustment of the opening. An independent claim is made for a garment with the above hood.
