An assembly promotes regeneration of water in a lake or lagoon by abstraction of aluminium ions present. The assembly consists of a container holding a charge of metal of a type which is far removed from aluminium in the electrochemical table, and which is suited to be submerged within the lake or lagoon. The metal chosen has pref. a normal potential e.g. copper and is held within a container fabricated from a chalk-based mineral e.g. limestone, to which the aluminium ions migrate and adhere. The metal may be present in the form of solid metal bars, pipes, tubes or granules.
