A folding and sliding sunshine roof for a vehicle has a flexible roof panel supported on sides at each side of the roof opening. The inside of the roof panel is provided with padding for thermal and acoustic damping. The padding can be foam and has periodic weaker sections which create the folds as the panel is slid into the open position. The fold lines can be created by weaker, softer padding, or by reinforcing the padding on each side of the folds. This can be achieved with glass fibre insert mats or with other reinforcing.
