The invention relates to a high water protective element (1) for sealing building openings, such as windows, doors or the like, and for temporarily raising embankments. To this end, the high water protective element is equipped with fixing elements for fastening to the building and/or for fastening an adjacent element. The aim of the invention is to provide a high water protective element that is easy to mount, easy to produce, easy to handle and can be economically produced. To this end, the high water protective element (1) is provided in the form of a light metal hollow profile with a frame-like seal (4) for placing against a building surface, with a sealing rib (2) on at least one face, and with an engaging slot (3), which is provided for receiving this sealing rib (2) and which is located on at least one opposing face.
