Self-inflating protective hailstone mat for skylights, solar systems and greenhouses is stored in a window blind box (1). The mat is unrolled by a manual or electric drive (2) and a cable pull (3) and self-inflates. During rolling over two rollers (4) a vacuum is produced and the size of the mat is reduced. Preferred Features: The mat can be additionally impinged upon with compressed air.
