The pipe coupling has on one end of a coupling housing (12) a bayonet connection (14,16) for the connection of both coupling halves (10), a valve ball rotatably mounted in the housing by means of pivot pins, and an operating lever (46) acting upon one of the pivot pins. A locking pin operated by one of the pivot pins protrudes from one end of the housing when the valve ball is in the open position, and is recessed in the housing in the closed position of the valve ball. The operating lever is mounted to pivot around an axis perpendicular to the rotational axis of the ball.
