The mounting system especially for glass panels has a connecting element (2) with at least one support cylinder (4) which has an axial blind hole (11) ending in the free end region of the support cylinder. The support cylinder has an inner bore co-axial with the blind hole and penetrating the free end of the cylinder. A panel holder (5) is connected to a pivot (3) which has a ball joint (9) longitudinally movable in the blind hole. The support cylinder on its free end has a U-form side socket (13), the width of which is greater than the diameter of the pivot.
