Microencapsulation of color reagents by dissolving the reagent in a solvent, rapidly mixing the solution with a non-solvent to form a supersaturated solution and rapidly mixing this with an aqueous medium to form an emulsion, comprises using a vegetable oil 1-8C alkyl ester as the solvent. An Independent claim is also included for microcapsules for pressure-sensitive color reaction systems, comprising a color reagent in a supersaturated system comprising a vegetable oil 1-8C alkyl ester solvent and a non-solvent.
