The corner cutting construction has a cutter seat (10) with a blade (12) fitted vertically on it, and a support (20) upon which the cutter seat is pivotably fitted and which has a cutting plate (23) positioned to correspond to the blade. If a card is placed on the support pressure is applied to the cutter seat which rotating downwards towards the card acts upon the blade. The cutter seat also has a recess (11) with two bevelled faces (111) from each of which extends a pressure plate. A slot formed between each bevelled face and the pressure plate accommodates the blade.
