The fishing rod (2) consists of a composite carbon fiber tube which tapers from the handle (1) to the tip. A reel (3) is mounted near the handle and line (5) runs through guide rings (4) spaced along the rod. The rod consists of a tapered carbon fiber tube with a winding made of large diameter carbon fiber cords wound in right-hand and left-hand helices and woven under and over each other. An outer casing made of carbon fiber material is formed on the outside of the carbon fiber and winding.
