A tube (15) is secured inside the channel for the wire and protrudes beyond the rail or molar band contact surface on the mounting (10a, 10b). The joint is provided with a mounting at either end for securing to a molar band or rail. The mounting comprises a fastener part with a contact surface for providing frictional contact with the rail or molar band, this part being pivotally connected to a counter-piece. At least one of the fastener parts contains a channel through which a wire can be passed. An independent claim is also included for the fastener part.
