An air blower has a rotating fan (30) set on a stator mounting (20) in the centre of a flat profile housing (10) with straight through air flow from an input side (11) to an output side (12). The input air flow is enhanced by replacing the conventional closed side with radial vanes (15) to form radial inlet ducts. The blower blades drawn in air from the input side as well as through the radial ducts. This increases the air flow and reduces turbulence and noise. The radial ducts can be angled to provide a swirl effect.
